November Fly of the Month

The Muddler Minnow is a perenial favorite streamer which most of us carry in our fly box.  It was developed years ago by Minnesota tier Don Gapen to imitate sculpins, a favorite trout prey, which are found in streams across the country.  When greased the Muddler also serves as a hopper.  Tim Flagler's video which accompanies the tying instructions demonstrates some steps that simplify the tying of this fly.

Welcome to Our 2016 Stewardship Dinner

Dear Guests and Members,
When I look at my Instagram feed, or Twitter, or Facebook and I see various fishing celebrities, always smartly outfitted with impossibly expensive gear, telling me to ‘rep my water,’ and ‘keep ‘em wet,’ in far-flung beautiful places, the images fill me with a mix of mild envy and slight despair. Undoubtedly, I should not envy these celebrities. They are our allies in conservation and we earthbound fisherman are indebted to them for making our sport look so cool. Undoubtedly, those celebrities are doing a lot of good. They deserve our respect.
