THE NORTHERN SNAKEHEAD IS AN INVASIVE SPECIES THREATENING THE DELAWARE WATERSHED
The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has confirmed the invasion of a northern snakehead in the Bashakill Marsh through a photo received from an angler who caught the fish. The Bashakill connects to the Delaware River through the Neversink River.
You should be vigilant when fishing for spotting northern snakeheads in the Delaware River and its tributaries. If caught, these fish should be killed (NOT RELEASED INTO THE WATER) and photographed. You should report sightings through https://www.nyimapinvasives.org/ to the regional NYS DEC fisheries office, and to DEC's Invasive Species Bureau at isinfo@dec.ny.gov or call (518) 402-9425.

With your help, the spread of this and other invasive species can be mitigated. And remember, the trout fishing season is open all year.
