Blue Winged Olive Soft Hackle

This pattern is from Johnny Utah a Pennsylvania tier.  He touts it as his go to fly during BWO hatches.  He recommends it in sizes 14 to 18 but for the fall of the year size 18 and smaller (if you can manage it) are the sizes that will match those small fall olives.

• Hook:           size 14 to 16 wet fly hook
• Thread:        8/0 light olive
• Tail:              pheasant tail
• Ribbing:       extra small copper wire
• Body:           the tying thread
• Thorax:        pheasant tail
• Hackle:        gray partridge
