Dutchess County Veterans Fishing Event at Overlook Park, Lagrange (4/22/23)

MHTU and the DC Federation of Sportsmen hosted a DC Veterans Fishing Event. On a breezy, overcast morning veterans were teamed up with MHTU volunteers to fish in Overlook Park Lake. Dan Swart, MHTU President, kicked off the event with a fly casting tutorial. Veterans chose to fish with either fly casting or spinning equipment. After fishing, the DC Federation provided a delicious lunch. Overall, a good time was had by all, a few fish caught, and some new friendships made.

Thursday, June 23 @ Whortlekill Rod & Gun Club, Hopewell Junction NY

MHTU members and Veterans from Dutchess County enjoy a day of fly casting instruction and pond fishing.

MHTU and Whortekill Rod & Gun Club hosted eleven veterans from Dutchess County on Thursday, June 23. Following introductions, coffee and breakfast at the Club in Fishkill, members of MHTU taught those interested how to fly cast. The lesson was followed by fishing for bass & panfish with various flies in the Club’s pond. A delicious lunch by the Whortekill Club completed the event. Hopefully, this becomes a regular gathering. All those who attended enjoyed the event.
