Disco Midge

This pattern will be tied in pink which is one of the popular shades that it comes in; however, it can be tied in a variety of other colors.  Inasmuch as it represents a midge it is a small fly.

• Hook:               size 22 scud, or caddis hook if you don't have the scud model
• Bead:               a silver glass bead, or a nickel colored metal bead
• Thread:           pink or red (use florescent if you have it)
• Body:              Flashabou
• Collar:             peacock herl

Create an under-body with the tying thread and then wind the transparent Flashabou over it.  Leave some space between the bead and the peacock herl collar and build up a "hot spot with the thread as shown in the picture.  To see this fly tied click on the link below:
