November Fly of the Month: Almost There Baetis

NOTE: At monthly chapter meetings we feature a "Fly of the Month" and everyone is encouraged to participate.  

Tie and bring to the meeting two or more of the "Fly of the Month" and you will receive a raffle ticket for each fly.  Those who have not tied a fly for the raffle can purchase tickets for a dollar apiece.  The winning ticket gets half of all the flies.  The other flies are retained by the chapter.

November Fly of the Month: Almost There Baetis

With warm weather behind us, other than midges, the only mayfly hatching in any number will be the Blue Winged Olive. The BWO is also known by its Latin name, Baetis.  We've featured various Baetis/BWO patterns in the past but this is a new one, developed by the folks at Blue Ribbon Flies.  It is an easy tie and is touted as being very effective. 

Hook: Daiichi 1140 #18 to 22, or substitute a regular dry fly hook                                                                                              
Thread:    Olive dun

Tail:          Three lemon wood duck or dyed mallard fibers

Body:       Gray olive super fine or beaver dubbing

Wing:      BWO EP Trigger Point fibers, or substitute Antron or similar material
