MHTU October General Membership Meeting - Guest Speakers: Ed and Judy Van Put, October 17, 7 pm

Ed and Judy Van Put will give a presentation on Artists Who Fished The Catskills, featuring the Hudson River School of Landscape Painters and others. Judy presents the program, and at the conclusion Ed will answer questions - about the program, trout fishing in the Catskills, or any other subject regarding fishing.

BIO:

Judy and Ed are past employees of NYS DEC Bureau of Fisheries. Judy was a Fish & Wildlife Technician for 5 years; Ed was a Principal Habitat/Fisheries Technician for 40 years. While both worked in Fisheries, most of what Ed did was to acquire Public Fishing Rights and Fisherman Parking Areas along selected streams, as well as review stream disturbance applications for the regulatory office, primarily in the Catskills.

Ed and Judy live in the Catskills, along the Willowemoc Creek. Both are members of the NYS Outdoor Writers Association, and both are recipients of the New York State Council of Trout Unlimited's Professional Communications Award: Judy in 2005, and Ed in 2009.


Judy writes a weekly fishing column for the Sullivan County Democrat, and Ed has written many articles on trout fishing in the Catskills, and authored five books: The Beaverkill: The History of a River and Its People (1996); Trout Fishing In The Catskills (2007), The Beaverkill 2nd Edition (2015) with additional text/artwork and 25 fly patterns; and The Remarkable Life of James Beecher (2021).
