Our May speaker is Ed Ostapczuk
Many consider Ed to be the face and the voice of the Catskills, especially the Esopus River.
A master fly tyer and member of the Catskill Fly Tyers Guild, Ed has written numerous articles, essays, columns, and even a few books. In 1991, Trophy Trout Streams of the Northeast was published and included a chapter on the Esopus written by Ed Ostapczuk. In 2012 he wrote Ramblings of a Charmed Circle Flyfisher, recounting his fly-fishing adventures.
His love for fly fishing began at age 13 when he received his first fishing pole and tying kit.
Ed is a chapter officer of the Ashokan-Pepacton chapter of TU. He also regularly contributes to conversations with the DEC and DEP.
Ed will be speaking to us about the Esopus and how it has weathered a 500 year flood and last years historical drought.
